Ami was born in Port Perry and lived within Toronto to obtain her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Photography from OCAD University graduating in 2014, recently she has returned to her hometown. Here she is a current member of the Scugog Council of the Arts and is an active member in art events in the area.
During her time in Toronto she worked at RYK Photo & Design as a portrait and fine jewelry photographer and retoucher in 2012 and exhibited her artwork OCAD University and Artscape Young Place to name a few. In addition, Ami collaborated with the Life Studies Class at OCAD University where they exhibited work at the Ontario Science Centre for a four month duration in the Weston Family Innovation Centre !dea Gallery in 2014. Closer to home she had a duo exhibition with Mike Stamper and shown her work in group exhibitions at SCA Gallery in Port Perry. For the past three years, Ami has been an Art Vendor at 105.5fm Hits Fest (formally UXMAF) and Art in the Park in Uxbridge, which she will be participating in again this coming year.
Ami not only exhibits her work in galleries but is actively working towards her maternity and lifestyle portrait photography. Recently finishing a course, Wedding and Portrait photography at Durham College and The Introduction to the Business of Fashion Photography at OCAD University Continuing Studies.
Within her work she has taken her two passions; Art and Photography, merging the two to create energetic and surreal artwork. Working in mixed media she has combined image transfers, acrylic, watercolour, reclaimed books, newspapers and wax. Additionally, she works with tumbled marble tile to create image transfer art and coasters with photography images of her travels. A few themes she explores within her work are nautical, nature and abstract floral with an emphasis on poppies.
